GetYourGuide + Airguide: Experiences, LocalTips, and Affiliate Program
You already recommend restaurants, tours, and attractions to your guests, for free. Airguide now lets you turn part of that generosity into extra income: the local tips section of your public guide can display a GetYourGuide widget carrying your affiliate code. When a guest books an experience through it, you earn a commission.
What is GetYourGuide?
GetYourGuide is one of the world's largest platforms for discovering and booking travel experiences: guided tours, attraction tickets, excursions, family-friendly activities. Millions of travelers already use it to decide what to do at their destination, including your guests.
That matters for one simple reason: "what should we do today?" is one of the most common questions after check-in. Instead of answering only with a list of places, you can place next to your tips a widget where guests browse real activities with prices and instant booking.
How the widget works in your guide
The local tips section is where guests find your recommendations during their stay. With the widget enabled, it also displays an interactive showcase of GetYourGuide experiences near your property:
- guests browse tours, tickets, and activities without leaving the guide;
- the widget appears alongside your tips, inside the interface they already trust;
- every click carries your Partner ID, so bookings made through the widget are attributed to you.
The experience itself belongs to GetYourGuide: availability, pricing, booking, and support are handled by the platform and activity suppliers. Your role is curation: recommending what makes sense for your destination and your guests.

How to enable it in 3 steps
- Join the affiliate program at the GetYourGuide Partner Portal. Approval unlocks your Partner ID (also called Cookie ID), which identifies your links and widgets.
- Open the property editor and go to the local tips section. Enable the GetYourGuide Experiences card.
- Paste your Partner ID and optionally set the city's Location ID (the GetYourGuide destination ID). Without a Location ID, the widget auto-detects based on the property's location.
Done: publish the guide and the widget appears to your guests. If you update information or change cities, just edit the guide, with no reprinting QR codes or resending messages.
How you earn
The commission flow is straightforward:
- A guest opens the guide and clicks an experience in the widget.
- They book normally on the GetYourGuide website.
- The attribution cookie (31 days, per the official documentation) records that the referral came from you.
- The commission shows up in your Partner Portal dashboard and is paid under the program's terms.
A few honest limitations: attribution can be lost if guests block cookies, click another affiliate's link first, or complete the purchase in the GetYourGuide app (in-app attribution still does not work like browser attribution). So treat affiliates as income that scales with the quality of your recommendations, not a guaranteed salary.
The widget does not replace good recommendations
The widget shows generic activities for the area; context comes from you. One line of yours beats ten cards:
"The boat tour is the best pick for your first day: it leaves from the pier two blocks away and avoids the midday sun."
Practices that improve both the guest experience and conversion:
- think about your actual guest profile (beach house vs. downtown business stay, families vs. couples);
- highlight what to do on rainy days, with kids, or on short stays;
- write why you recommend something, not just "a must-see";
- never invent price, duration, or cancellation policies, since those change and always live on the activity page;
- review your tips before peak season.
Transparency: the essentials
The affiliate program terms are clear about three points, all easy to comply with:
- Disclose that links are affiliate links. One sentence works: "Some links in this guide are affiliate links: if you book through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you."
- Do not use the GetYourGuide brand in ways that suggest you are the platform or that it endorses your property.
- Do not copy platform content (photos, descriptions, reviews) into your guide. Use the widget and write your own recommendations.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay anything to use the widget?
No. The widget is free and included with Airguide. You only need an approved GetYourGuide affiliate account to receive commissions.
Does Airguide take a cut of my commission?
No. The Partner ID you paste in the editor is yours: bookings attributed through the widget go straight to your affiliate account.
How much commission does GetYourGuide pay?
The percentage depends on the program and can vary. Check the current rate in the Partner Portal before promoting.
What if the guest books through the GetYourGuide app?
According to GetYourGuide's own tracking documentation, in-app attribution does not yet work like browser attribution. That is a program limitation, not a widget limitation.
Can I use discount codes in my links?
Not recommended: official documentation advises avoiding promotional codes when the goal is ensuring commission attribution.
Conclusion
Your local tips were already a differentiator for your rental. Now they can pay off too: enable the GetYourGuide widget in the editor's tips section, paste your Partner ID, and let the guide work for you between bookings.
